The TS431U is a 4-bay storage tower with SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and eSATA interfaces which has over 200MB/s in performance. The rear USB 3.0 port is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports, make it more flexible for accessing data. Four hot-swappable hard drives slots are behind the aluminum front cover to allow easy trouble shooting and hard drive replacement. The newly trayless design and hard drive pop-up mechanism make it easy to installation. With high performance transfer rate and up to 6TB capacity to support the storage of big files like movies and other multmedia, TS431U is the ideal storage tower for different utilization.

  • Q.What is SATA Port Multiplier?

  • Q.Why when I connect my device via eSATA and set it to Non-RAID mode, it does not recognize multiple hard drives, but if I connect using USB 3.0 or with other RAID mode this does not happen?
    A:If your motherboard does not support SATA Port multiplier please utilize USB 3.0 port or else install a eSATA card that supports SATA Port multiplier.
    If your motherboard supports SATA Port multiplier, update the motherboard chipset driver.
  • Q.Why can’t I see new hard drives in the computer disk list?
    A:Please make sure that your new hard drives had been initialized / formatted with new partition in disk manager.
  • Q.When I install two hard drives in non-RAID mode on TS431U and connected to my computer via eSATA interface why does my computer only show one drive?
    A:To support two hard drives via single eSATA port in non-RAID mode, your computer’s eSATA controller must have “port multiplier” feature. Please check your computer’s specification or ask for help from your computer’s manufacturer or the retail store where you purchase the computer from.
  • Q.When I install two hard drives in non-RAID mode and connected to pc via USB 3.0 interface. Why is the performance very slow when transferring data between these two hard drives?
    A:USB host can manage two hard drives in one storage enclosure but both hard drives are forced to share a single USB data path and bus bandwidth, so when transferring data between these two hard drives the performance will be much slower than with just one hard drive.
  • Q.When I installed 3TB hard drive into TS431U, how come my computer can’t show the hard drive?
    A:Please make sure you install a brand-new 3TB hard drive into TS431U, connect to pc via USB or eSATA interface, then initialize / format new partition with disk manager. If your 3TB hard drive has been installed on other HDD enclosure with disk partition larger than 2TB, it may incompatible with TS431U. This is due to different hardware design of each HDD enclosure and different operation system environment when reading and writing to 3TB or larger hard drive. If this is the cause of problem, we recommend you put HDD back to original enclosure and backup all important data. After backup, you can delete the disk partition in the original enclosure and then put that HDD into TS431U to reinitialize / reformat new partition with disk manager.
